February

I'm not feeling 100% this morning but I keep forgetting to post this so I wanted to hurry and do it while I was thinking about it. These are the first two calendar pages/desktops I have made I am doing it as it comes because I didn't have time to get it done before the new year.

Biting

Okay first I just have to say that the word biting just looks completely wrong to me, I had to look it up to make sure that was the correct spelling. Zach is a biter... and he usual victim.. Alex. I need to see if I can get Alex to hold still long enough so that I can take pictures because you wouldn't believe it unless you saw it. On Wednesday morning the were wrestling and Zach got Alex's chin so from just below Alex's lip to his chin and then under his jaw up to his chin he has this two big scrapes. Then yesterday morning Zach got Alex's hand right on the knuckle so he has a 'U' shaped bruise on his hand. This morning I caught Zach in time to keep him from biting Alex's finger. The problem right now is he is teething and rather then chew on the 20 teething toys we have he would rather bite Alex. I am already dreading Nursery... my child is going to be the kid that bites everyone. He does it out of frustration too... Oh well everyone has their quirks I guess.

Update

We are still in the land of the living! I am just in this "just make it through each day" mode. I finally got a bunch of Alex's preschool projects scanned in (the basement is just so cold!) so I will post a few of them. As I was scanning them I can't help but think of how proud I am on Alex, he is so smart! He knows all of his letters now (something I was really worried about before he started preschool because he just didn't seem to get them and he had picked up numbers SO quickly). He loves to "read" letters off of everything. Signs, shirts, bottles anything. He is really cute with stop signs, and I know a lot of other kids do this but it's always exciting when it's your child, he says " S-T-O-P, stop!" He is trying to learn "left and right" so we work with him on that when we are driving or in the store, he will say "which way" then we will point and say either left or right or straight depending on which way we are going. He knows exactly how to get to his preschool and which house it is.

Zachary is growing like a weed and is really getting into climbing. This morning he figured out that if he pushes against the tub he can get on the toilet and then into everything on the shelf and counter. He has a Fisher-Price incrediblock "cube" that is probably 18" tall and he climbs up on it all the time. He is so good at climbing I should probably take our gate down and let him climb up and down the stairs but he is to smart for his own good knowing him he will try and "walk" down the stairs. I know we eventually just took it down with Alex and he did fine but I am so scared to do it with Zach and I don't know why. He will eat absolutely anything (including the cat food...) and I hope that he will keep that! Alex is such a picky eater it makes it hard sometimes to feed but it is a battle that I gave up on a long time ago.

So there is an update for you and here are a few of Alex's preschool projects...

Random

Sorry I haven't posted for a while I apparently haven't taken any pictures either. Just a few random things this morning. I don't know about the rest of you but trimming fingernails and toenails around here is like a full blow wrestling match. Even with Alex, he is getting better about letting me cut his finger nail but he hates his toenails cut.

Alex has been cracking me up this morning. He is starting to use phrases that Shawn and I use with him or that he is picking up from Primary and Preschool (speaking of primary this was Alex's second week and he seems to love it thankfully) This morning he said "Will you do me a favor" to me which is something I say to him all the time. Then I was trying to get Zach laid down for a nap and Alex had been jabbering at me and I wasn't fully paying attention to me and he said "I'm trying to talk to you!" He pulls out these phrases and you just can't help but laugh. Of course I am sure that will come back to bite me as well!

Why?

Why is it that no matter what toy one child has the other child suddenly has to have it?
Why does the same brand sippy cups lids only fit on specific cups? If it's the same brand shouldn't they fit every cup?
Why is it that no matter how long you are up doing things, the second you sit down someone needs/wants something?
Why is it that when Zach is mad his first instinct is to bite?
Why is it that when kids are having fun they have to emit a high pitch squeal?
Why is it that in a house FULL of toys they insist on playing with cat toys or non toy items?
Why cat food? (see above)
Why is it that when ever we open the fridge Zach insists on grabbing the mustard bottle and sucking on it?
Why does every fun session always have to always end in tears?
Why is it that when Zach is sleeping that is when Alex chooses to be the loudest?
Why is it that Zach insists on being held but refuses to let you sit down while holding him?
Why can't one "no" be enough?
Why does a 1 hour dentist appointment take up 4 hours of my day?
Why can't I go to the bathroom and be by myself? (this includes the cats!)
Why is there no time to just sit down and read?
Why is the temperature of the house always just a little too cold or just a little too hot?
Why is it so easy to find time to spend on blogs or facebook but so hard to find time to sit down and read the scriptures?
Why does it always have to be "just a minute?" why not right now?
Why in a world full of people is it so easy to feel alone?
Why do the toys have to be spread through the entire house?
Why is there always toys in mommy and daddy's bathroom?
Why can't the kids just play contently by themselves? Why do they always have to be in the others business?
Why do they have to chase the cats behind the couch?
Why do kids hate naps?
