Difference
Several people told me how much Alex and Zach look alike, however the older Zach gets the less I think they do. So I figured I would grab both of their four month pictures and see.

All it takes is a good book
I am obsessed, I will be the first to admit it. I started reading (sorry listening to) the Twilight Series (by Stephenie Meyer) a few weeks ago, and I am willing to say they are the best books I have read/listened too in a long time. Maybe it's the romantic in me, maybe it's the teenage girl in me that refuses to grow up but I got sucked in hook line and sinker. (I realize that I am a little late joining the party, the first book came out in 2006.)
For those of you who don't know I always listen to Audio Books while I work, it's the only way I can work. I have been trying to work some more hours to get some extra money. So I was sitting here last night and Shawn said, "All it takes for you to work extra hours is a good book." I just laughed because I knew it was true. But I thought about it more as the night went on, it's not just work. I will do things around the house that I can do while listening to my MP3 player. My ironing is caught up and I have found myself doing dishes several times a day. (Anyone who knows me well knows that these are two things that I despise. ) I have even listened to it while fixing dinner and as embarrassed as I am to admit this, I have listened to it while playing the video game Mario Kart for Alex (I have played it so much for him, I could probably do it in my sleep.)
Another thing I am a bit embarrassed to admit is, I have started the series over... that's right I finished it on Wednesday and started it over yesterday. I have to go back through to catch the things I have missed the first time around! I have also discovered that they are making Twilight the movie that will be coming out on December 12, 2008 and Edward Cullen will be played by Robert Pattinson who was Cedric Diggery in Harry Potter: Goblit of Fire. I have mixed emotions about a movie being made because I am a true believer in the book is always better then the movie and I have to admit too, I have Edward pictured MUCH MUCH differently. But Robert Pattinson was great as Cedric, so I am suffering (ha ha ha) through the series again to also try and picture Robert as Edward...
So for those of you who have not read the series either may I strongly recommend it. (Which I don't tend to recommend books to people very often do to the vast range of authors I read/listen to.) For more information go to http://www.stepheniemeyer.com/twilightseries.html. (FYI while digging around on the Internet I found out that Stephenie Meyer is LDS and graduated from BYU).

Thank You
This morning after Alex finished eating breakfast I was helping him wash his hands when he said something I didn't quite hear so I asked him what he said. He said "Gracias Mommy!Gracias!" Then looked at me with a smug grin on his face, I couldn't help but laugh. So I said "De Nada Alex!" He thought that was pretty funny. I guess all that Dora The Explorer and Go Deigo Go have taught him something!
On a side note, I haven't posted any pictures because our new camera doesn't save the files as .jpegs so I got a updated program to convert them I just need to get it installed.

Missionary work?
So yesterday morning I was getting ready for church and Shawn was in helping Alex get ready. He had asked Alex if he wanted to go to church and play with his friends in nursery. Alex then turned to Izzie (our recently acquired 3rd cat, another story) and said "Izzie want to go to church?" Just one of those sweet moments that could only come from a child.

Cabin Fever...
About this time of year (or a little earlier) my side of the family goes into "Cabin Fever". I am sure a lot of it can be contributed to actual cabin fever from being stuck inside during the winter. However in my family cabin fever has a different definition. It's the desire to go to our cabin in Island Park Idaho (It's about 30 minutes from Yellowstone National Park). For those of you who don't know the story of the "Cabin" I have pulled a section of a post my brother Mike did about a motorcycle trip he made from Harrisville to the Cabin. (Mike is an incredible writer and has put it better then I probably could. Thanks Mike! If you are interested in the entire post of his trip go to http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=255950).
"My maternal grandfather, Ralph Dabb, was like a second father to me. Just before I was born, my grandfather lost one of his married daughters and son-in-law to a tragic accident involving asphyxiation in a small camper near Bear Lake Utah. As a sort of tribute to their lives and his love of the outdoors, he purchased a small lot in Island Park Idaho and built a cabin for his family and future generations to enjoy. "The Cabin" as it is simply known in my family, became a refuge and a nostalgic place where we spent just about every single summer vacation as kids."
I post this with a little sadness in my heart and a tear in my eye knowing that Shawn and I will not be able to go this summer.

The Cabin circa 2004.

Working?
For those of you who may not know I work from home. I only work about 20 hours a week but it has been a chore to figure out how to work with Zachary. (Alex will pretty much entertain himself) When Alex was this age I had just quit working altogether and didn't start working again until he was about 7 months old. One of the things I have started doing with Zach is setting him on my lap for short periods of time just to try and get something done. This is how Shawn came home from work and found us one day. He said it was just too cute and he had to take a picture. (Please ignore my work "uniform" Old Navy lounge pants that I bought on clearance and an old t-shirt)

11 Years Ago Today!

So I am in a little bit of what I have termed "Time Shock". Today is our 11th anniversary, I have registered Alex for preschool, Zach is 4 months old, my niece is graduating from high school... I could go on. It's amazing how some days time just seems to drag; but in a blink of the eye it's several months later. For example as I write this I have to keep stopping to Zach's bottle back in his mouth and get his hands put back on it; I have done this several times now and I keep thinking "oh I can't wait until he can just sit and hold his bottle!" But before I know it I will be registering him for preschool. I have to remind myself of what Elder Ballard said in his talk about enjoying the moments. I love my beautiful boys even if they make me crazy some times. On a side note the weather today is the same as it was the day we got married 11 years ago!
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Birthday Boy!
Saturday was Alex's 3rd birthday and when we asked him if it was his birthday he would say "NO!" So when he saw his presents he got really excited and we told him he had to say it was his birthday so that he could have them. So for the rest of the day when we asked him if it was his birthday he would begrudgingly say "yes".
New Blog!
Hello Everyone and welcome to my new blog! Since it seems to be the "thing to do" Shawn and I decided we should have one too. So I hope that you all enjoy!
