Snow Day
I took a few pictures yesterday morning of the "boys" out playing in the snow, little did I realize this was going to be before all the snow really hit.

Halloween
We tried and tried to talk Alex into dressing up for Halloween to no avail, so I finally just made a t-shirt that said "this is my costume" He wouldn't hold still for anything! He was adamant about not going trick or treating as well. (I guess I can't blame him he doesn't really like candy.) We did convince him to go outside and take pictures with Zach and then talked him into going for a walk with daddy and Zach.

Zach was a monkey and a cute one at that!
Shawn said that by the time they got to the first house Alex was already into trick or treating and didn't want to stop when Zach got tired. After they got home Alex counted his candy and then had fun each time someone came to the door. At the end of the night he said to me "Mommy, I wish I had a monkey costume like Zach's"... of course...

12 Things You Can Do With Hydrogen Peroxide
I got this from the Homemaking Helper blog and thought it was useful. I am totally going to try the mirror one today!
1. Take one cap full and hold in your mouth for 1 minute or so, then spit it out. No more canker sores, and your teeth will be whiter without those expensive toothpastes. Use it instead of mouthwash.
2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of peroxide to keep them free of Germs.
3. Clean your counters and table tops with peroxide to kill germs and leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dish cloth, when you wipe, or spray it on the counter tops.
4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to kill salmonella and other bacteria.
5. To get rid of fungus, spray 50/50 mixture of Peroxide and water on it (especially the toes) every night and let dry.
6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes several times a day.
7. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of Peroxide and water and keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic system like bleach or most other disinfectants will do.
8. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture whenever you have a cold or a plugged sinus. It will bubble and help to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes, and then blow your nose into a tissue.
9. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right away, put a cap full of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.
10. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid boils, fungus, or other skin infections.
11. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing, pour it directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it and rinse with cold water. Repeat, if necessary.
12. Use peroxide to clean my mirrors. There is no smearing.

Big Boy Bed
So we moved Zach into a big boy bed about a week ago the first few nights he did really well. Unfortunately now he thinks he can get up at 4:30 in the morning and go into Alex's room to wake him up or get me and Shawn up. At night when we put him to bed he gets up repeatedly until he is finally so sleepy he falls asleep then THANKFULLY he sleeps a night. So how do you get an early bird to not get up so early?

Funny/Random
Just a few funny things that Alex has done...
He has been watching shows about recycling on Disney and Noggin and he brought his sippy cup over to me and said "this is made out of glass?" and I said "no it's made out of plastic" so he said "Oh so it goes in the plastic cycle bin!, where is our plastic cycle bin Mom???" How do you explain to a 4 year old that we don't have a plastic recycle bin?
Earlier today Alex asked me for some peanut butter, so I asked him if he wanted a peanut butter sandwich and he said "no just peanut butter" so I gave him a spoonful of peanut butter and he loved it. He came back and asked me for another spoonful and "4 squares of bread" so I asked him again if he wanted me to make a sandwich and he told me no, he would do it. So I look over and he is trying to spread peanut butter with a spoon onto a 1/4 piece of bread and then was eating it. He has really been into pretend cooking lately so pretty soon he brought me over a piece and told me to try his sandwich that he made. So of course I had to eat a piece.
The other day Alex and I were sitting on the couch and I was eating a sandwich (the kids had already eaten) and he asked me a question so I answered him and he said "Mom, don't talk with your mouth full!" I didn't even realize I had answered him with food in my mouth. I guess it's a sign that he his listening to us and things are starting to sink in.
Zach is grown by leaps and bounds, he says more and more every day and it just amazes me to hear him try and string a sentence together.
We were reading books one night on the couch and he and Alex were taking turns getting books from their rooms for me to read so the next night Alex wasn't feeling well so I had put him to bed early but Zach was still up and so he brought me a book so we read it and then he hopped up and said "Book?" and I said "yes you can go get another book" so he ran to the door way to the hall then stopped and said "book?" and I again told him yes then he got to railing for the stairs and turned and stopped and once again said "book?" and I laughed and said "yes you can get another book" I don't know what he thought would change in each of those three steps but he was convinced that I was going to tell him he couldn't read another book.
He loves to say "Mire!" which means come here so he will say "Mire Pees" (for please) and if you don't follow him he starts saying "Mire!" repeatedly and louder and louder until you finally follow him.

Update
I know it's been a long time so I'm going to try and do a quick update of some of the things that happened over the last month.. (sorry for the long post)

Shawn's Birthday was at the end of August and so I had to include a picture from that, the kids were so excited I think they opened most of his presents for him.

Alex's first day of School and he insisted that I take a picture of him on the bench.
He wouldn't hold still for me he wanted to get to school but I thought this picture was cute.

A week ago I had decided to finally hand scrub my floor, I hate doing it but the steam mop just doesn't get the grout clean so every once in a while I have to break down and scrub! Also since we have all been sick I figured I would "sanitize" it while I was at it. Well Zach was insistent on helping, but I didn't want him sticking his hands in the hot bleached water so I gave him a little nail brush and a bowl with a tiny bit of water in it and he was happy as a clam. Of course then Alex had to help out too. It was just to cute to not get pictures of.

Preschool
YAY!!!!!
Sorry had to get that out of the way. Preschool starts next week so today was the "open house". Alex is so excited to go back (so am I!!!). His teacher has brought in a woman who has lots of "exotic pets" and she does birthday parties and what not and she will be bringing different animals in every other week for the kids to see so that should be a lot of fun for the kids. I got Alex in the Tuesday-Thursday morning class which is what I wanted to do last year but was to late. I hope this time agrees better with him. I think having a day inbetween church and school will be nice. Here is a couple of pictures of Alex by his name crayon, there were a lot of people there so I was trying to take the pictures quickly and Alex would look at me and smile just after I took them, so they aren't the best.

August
So once again I must apologize for my lack of posts. Life has just been crazy and I have gone into "survival mode" Shawn's been traveling a lot for work, Alex got sick AGAIN and I have had my usual bouts with migraines. But we have survived for the most part and we are trying to get back into the "normal" routine. I did manage to get my August calendar page done last night (5 days late I know but better late then never). Here it is...

I had a lot of fun pictures from the kids playing in the irrigation water while we were up at my parents house I just never got around to posting them. Maybe soon =o)

More Funnies from Grandma's house
-Zach watched Mookie (the cat) scratching at the tree today and so he proceded to try and do it with both his hands and then his feet, I don't think he found any fun in it.
-Grandma's exterior doors are really easy to open...
-Alex likes to go outside here, but hardly ever wants to when we are at home. (Might have something to do with the lack of AC here...)
-Zach has decided that if Razzy is around and laying down he must sit on him no matter what.
-Alex insists on sleeping with his heavy blanket at night, even if it is 100 degrees.
-Zach must never been left unsupervised...

Fun at Grandma's
So we are spending a few days at Grandma and Grandpa Knight's house. Here are some pictures of the last two days.

The kids in the pool, I couldn't get a picture of all three of them looking at me at once of course. Alex refused to sit down because it was "too cold"

I just had to put this picture up, Alex's eyes just seem to pop!

Loving the swing! Alex particularly has always enjoyed this swing, he loved to rock in it as a little baby and as he got bigger he use to like to sit in it and watch all the cars go by.

Some day I would also love to have a big shady porch that we could all sit on and enjoy!

Poor Razzy, Zach for some reason decided he would make a good chair... Thankfully Raz is such a good dog he let him sit on him.

Of course I had to include a picture of Alex and Razzy as well.
It's nice to have someone else to help entertain the kids and give me a little break! We miss Shawn while we are here but it gives the kids a nice change of pace and scenery. I can't believe we are practically halfway through July already!

Oh funny
So today we were sitting down eating dinner and Shawn told Alex "thank you" for helping him fix dinner. Alex then said "It was my pleasure". I have no idea where he got that from but it was so cute.

Um...
So last night Alex got up around midnight and walked out with his blanket into the living room, Shawn followed him out and was only a few steps behind him. Alex laid right down on the couch and went right to sleep. About two hours later he got up and went back to his room. It was really odd, I don't know if he was sleep walking or if because he didn't feel good he was just trying to get comfy.

Vacation?
We were suppose to go up to the cabin for our vacation this year but after several two hour screaming trips to Ogden we decided that Zach wasn't going to make the six plus hour drive to Island Park. So instead we got a room at the Residence Inn in Salt Lake with Shawn's points and spent the night in SLC and went to the Zoo on Monday and Tuesday. The rest of the week was pretty much spent at home due to an unfortunate bout of the flu... Here is a slide show of our trip to the Zoo. Hover over the pictures to see the captions.

Slacker
Ok so time has just gotten away from me, I meant to post this at the beginning of the month and here it is the 13th already!

My nieces wanted to watch the boys for a few days when they got out of school so we took them up on Thursday and went to pick them up today. I think they had a great time but were ready to be home! I enjoyed the break! I partly felt bad for being so glad to have the break, but since we spend 24/7 together I think it is good for all of us! Maybe in a few weeks we will go and spend a few days with Grandma and Grandpa.

Laundry Helper
Alex LOVES to help with the laundry, I think it's great and I hope he continues to like to help with laundry. (Some how I doubt it ha ha ha) I snapped a picture of him the other day. When I was looking at the pictures after I uploaded them on the computer I realized something. I had done a scrapbook page a few years ago on the very same thing...
