We will miss you...

"Good-night, sweet princess; And flights of angels sing thee to they rest"
My grandpa Dabb use to say this line from Shakespeare's "Hamlet" all the time. I to this day can still hear him say "Good-night, sweet prince; And flights of angels sing thee to they rest". I debated about doing a post because I am not sure I can handle crying any more. Yesterday we had to put our sweet Zoiee to sleep. For those of you who don't know we got our two cats Zoiee and Chloee almost 10 years ago exactly. These cats became our babies when we couldn't have any. Zoiee started losing weight over the last few months and I had noticed this and was concerned and about a month ago she got very jaundiced and very lethargic and stopped eating. Then she kind of perked up for a bit she would move around and eat a little and drink a little and really put up a good fight but she was too sick to fight for long. Over the weekend she started to slip back into her lethargy and by Sunday we had decided that we just couldn't stand to see her suffer any longer. So yesterday morning Shawn called the vet and I took her over. The vet said pretty much what I thought he would, that we could run all sorts of tests but the end result would probably be the same but he was willing to do whatever we wanted. Not wanting our "baby" to suffer any more then she was I told him that we were ready to let her go. The snow thankfully held off until we could get her buried. She will truly be missed and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
I will miss her "tucking" us in at night, a odd little ritual that she had every night of jumping up on the bed as we got in bed and spending a few minutes with each of us before either laying on the bottom of the bed or disappearing. I will miss her sweet little meow that she would make with out moving her mouth. Her love of rubber bands and her amazing ability to sniff them out, and how she could launch them across the room. Her ability to seemingly "teleport" one minute she was just suddenly by you and the next she was gone just as quickly. Her love of wet towels, the fact that she loved to lick the shower door after we would shower, or when I would shower in the evenings and lay down in bed with wet hair how she would love to come and lay on my hair. How when I was sick and would lay down in bed to nap she would come and sleep by me. I will even miss the drippy nose that she would get when she was purring.

Yesterday was a roller coaster of emotion there was a lot of highs and lows. I was to end on a happier note and tell you of the "highs" we had yesterday. Alex had a major break through with potty training. He told us twice yesterday that he need to go potty! One of them was even after we had put him to bed (we are still putting him in pull ups at night to be on the safe side). He came out and told us that he needed to go potty so we ran him in and he went then went right back to bed. I was so proud! I see him growing and changing every day he is truly becoming a little boy! It's so nice to have those bright moments especially when everything has seemed so dreary.

Oh so cute!!!

So we got a kids meal for Alex from Burger King and they asked Shawn if it was for a boy or a girl well he told them boy, but we got these pink sunglasses (I guess it's for Pink Panther). We put them on Zach and he loved them.

More Randomness

For the record I don't know why I haven't taken any pictures lately, maybe it's because we have all been sick or something I don't know. Anyways I am just full of randomness this morning (no I don't care if randomness is a word or not because it fits how I am feeling). I was laying in bed last night with yet another migraine and I had my trusty ice pack. As I was laying there trying to relax enough to be able to go to sleep I got thinking about this dumb ice pack. We have three ice packs that the cloth covering, yet they are three different brands and are three completely different ice packs from the way they freeze and thaw, to their shape. Yet I always go back to this one, it's the first one we bought and the crazy thing is we didn't buy it for my headaches, I bought it years ago when Shawn got a wisdom tooth out. I went to Rite Aid to pick up his prescription (because Wal-Mart wasn't open here yet) and while I was there I figured I would get an ice pack that didn't have to be wrapped in a towel. Little did I realize that this would become one of the few things that would give me relief (if even for a short time) from my headaches. This ice pack is oddly shaped because it was made to be able to wrap around knee's and elbows and the such. The best way I can describe it is that it looks like of like and misshapen plus sign. Years later and we have three ice packs but I always use this one first and foremost. The other two just aren't as comfortable or something, one only has fabric on one side and the fabric is almost too thick and it seems to have picked up smells from the freezer (which if I wasn't using it on my head I probably wouldn't notice) the other one we bought most recently is like a brick that is the best way I can describe it. The thing freezes SOLID as a rock and then by the time it's thawed enough to be "comfortable" it's lost all of it's coolness... Maybe I should go into designing ice packs for people with headaches and migraines!

Other complete randomness for the day is I have found the perfect torture treatment. Just lock someone up with my kids for a couple of hours when they are grumpy! Because we go from happy screams to sad/mad screams in the blink of an eye and they are all high pitched. The sound is pitched just right that it hits a certain nerve in your brain and sends electrical pulses through your body, doubly great when you have a migraine.

I have to go to three different websites for work... everyday... I technically should go to 5. I have at least 6 different passwords and at least 4 different id's that I have to use to log into various things for work. I am getting an email every day telling me how many days I have left to change my password for one of these things but I haven't changed it yet because I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS TO LOG IN AND CHANGE IT!!! (it's one of the ones I should be logging into every day but I don't). The worst part about all this is 3/4 of the passwords have to be changed every 60-90 days. Honestly people... I'm not a machine, I can't remember all these things.

Finally the cat... Izzie (the "3rd cat") is silly, I believe I have said it before but she isn't a cat she is a dog. She prefers to go to the bathroom outside (which is completely fine by me) but she completely cracks me up about how she goes about wanting to go outside. She doesn't meow or scratch at the door, if I am sitting in my chair she comes over and paws at me. Or she comes over and jumps and throws herself into my leg. And the longer it takes for me to respond to her the harder she hits. The reason I bring this up is because she is going crazy this morning! I have gotten up to let her out three times now but it's snowing so she sticks one paw out the door then backs up and comes back in. But because she still needs to go to the bathroom she come back to me every 10 minutes or so and goes through the same routine.

So that is my randomness for the morning!

Things

Just a few random things this morning...

First I just have to say I don't understand why Zach thinks he needs to get up at 4:45 am. He doesn't go back to sleep, so by 7:45-8:00 he is completely exhausted. The kid is nuts! I have to laugh though because he is really completely opposite of Alex. Alex loved to rock and be rocked, Zach HATES it! However he has really gotten into "reading" books and loves to be held and rocked while he is reading, go figure. For as much of monkey as he is, it's really cute to see him sit so contently and look at a book.

Second, we have been working with Alex on potty training the last few days. I decided it was time to sink or swim! For those of you who know Alex he is a good kid but is INCREDIBLY stubborn! If he decides he isn't going to do something he goes into this zone and there is no getting him out of it. Which is why the half a dozen times we have tried potty training we have just given up. However yesterday we finally had a brake through! He went pee pee in the toilet 3 times yesterday and we only had one accident on the floor! So now if we can just get over the battle of him actually going to the bathroom we will be doing good! I know it will be a back an forth battle for a while but it is just so exciting to finally see some progress forward with him!

So those are my random thoughts for the day. I hope everyone is doing well! I love you all!
