Why is it that no matter what toy one child has the other child suddenly has to have it?
Why does the same brand sippy cups lids only fit on specific cups? If it's the same brand shouldn't they fit every cup?
Why is it that no matter how long you are up doing things, the second you sit down someone needs/wants something?
Why is it that when Zach is mad his first instinct is to bite?
Why is it that when kids are having fun they have to emit a high pitch squeal?
Why is it that in a house FULL of toys they insist on playing with cat toys or non toy items?
Why cat food? (see above)
Why is it that when ever we open the fridge Zach insists on grabbing the mustard bottle and sucking on it?
Why does every fun session always have to always end in tears?
Why is it that when Zach is sleeping that is when Alex chooses to be the loudest?
Why is it that Zach insists on being held but refuses to let you sit down while holding him?
Why can't one "no" be enough?
Why does a 1 hour dentist appointment take up 4 hours of my day?
Why can't I go to the bathroom and be by myself? (this includes the cats!)
Why is there no time to just sit down and read?
Why is the temperature of the house always just a little too cold or just a little too hot?
Why is it so easy to find time to spend on blogs or facebook but so hard to find time to sit down and read the scriptures?
Why does it always have to be "just a minute?" why not right now?
Why in a world full of people is it so easy to feel alone?
Why do the toys have to be spread through the entire house?
Why is there always toys in mommy and daddy's bathroom?
Why can't the kids just play contently by themselves? Why do they always have to be in the others business?
Why do they have to chase the cats behind the couch?
Why do kids hate naps?

New Years Resolutions...
I know you shouldn't set New Years Resolutions because you are just setting yourself up for failure but hey who am I to balk in the face of tradition!
Spend more one on one time with my boys
Get to the Temple more regularly
Read and Study D&C (since we teach the youth in Sunday School we don't get the same lessons)
Eat healthier
Get in shape enough to run the 5k at the Blood Run
Scrapbook
I could go on but realistically those should be the most attainable goals.
I wish you all a very Happy and Safe New Year!

The calm...after the storm?
Alex's reaction to the presents...
You don't really see it well in the picture but he was completely in awe it was cute. Here is Zach's reaction. Unfortunately for Alex we made him wait until Zach had gotten up until he opened the presents. (We did let him open his stocking).
Yea me!

Gingerbread and cooking
Last night for our Family Home Evening activity we did a Gingerbread house. Alex had seen the kits in the store a few weeks back and was so excited about it that I finally picked on up. He was bouncing with excitement! We had to keep reminding him that the candy was limited, not because he wanted to eat it he wanted to cover all of the frosting. He also didn't understand the concept of weight he put as many gumballs on the tree as would fit and the poor thing could barely stand up. Not being a candy eater he was being funny about it, Shawn said if a piece of candy fell off he would pick up the piece lick off the frosting and put the candy back on the house. I was looking at it after it was all finished and I realized he had made a "smiley face", I am not sure if he did it intentionally or not but it's cute none the less.

His latest thing is "I wanna cook with you!" Neither of us can step foot in the kitchen with out him being plastered by our side (which sometimes is a little dangerous). He absolutely loves the whole cooking process so hopefully he will continue to love it and he can be a good cook like his daddy. (Not the most flattering picture of me but this is him helping me bake bread last night)
Sad state of reality
On Sunday in our Sunday School class our lesson was on "Honoring your Parents". One of the "activities" for the kids was to have them write a letter to their parents telling them how much they appreciate them. We teach the 12,13 & 14 year olds and lessons are always hit and miss but the kids really seemed to enjoy this activity. After the kids finished their letters I gave them all envelopes and told them to seal the envelopes and address them so I could mail them to their parents. 3/4 of the class didn't know how to properly address an envelope. These are kids that are in 6th, 7th and 8th grade and they don't know how to address an envelope! I was completely baffled by this as was Shawn. The funny thing in all of this is that I so rarely mail things any more that the stamps I had were not the current rate!
